hi there, just wondered if I could get some advice. I have a boy with adhd, he is 6 and a half and was diagnosed at the age of 5. We put him on meds which was amazing and he is excelling in school, instead of being told my son doens't listen, touches everything we are now on the road where meetings with teachers are talking about how bright he is . However, I also have another son who will be 4 in May. He is in preschool and I have just been called into the teacher as she says he has little spatial awareness, finds it difficult to leave a task if it is not finished, is very quick to hit another child and "has no friends". The last comment really hurt me as he always comes home to tell me who he plays with so it was a shock to hear this. I explained to the teacher that his brother has adhd and asked if she though this might be the case. She said she couldn't possibly diagnose but recommended that I seek a diagnosis straight away. I also had to take him away from the childminder as she said he was too hard to handle and really misbehaved. He does concentrate on things like jigsaws (can do 100 piece jigsaws by himself) and will do craft work with me. His brother has no concentration ever to do this at this age so I thought because of this my 2nd son hadn't got adhd, obviously I now need to rethink. Does it sound like adhd, what should I do, can kids get meds this young. This has been so hard for me to deal with, I feel like I have spent so much time being called in by teachers to be told my child is "different". Where are we supposed to the strength from. Does anyone else have multiple kids with adhd. Sorry for long post!!
hmm, sorry I have no advice for you, but reading this I had to domdouble take and think did I write this?? seriously, even down to my son will be turing 4 in May! anyway, I am experiencing the exact same thing right now!! and not sure at all what to do with my younger one, I had thought he was fine, but not so sure now. I keep wondering if he has learned certain behaviors or if they are real symptoms, just different. I am interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this also?
