ADHD is Bull!?! The History Of ADHD!

So, I am a little upset this morning. There are so many people out there, in fact a man posted on Child ADHD Info's Facebook page saying that ADHD is bull****! This made me very angry. So, I am posting about it.

There are so many people out there that will insist that ADHD is a new recent made up diagnosis used as an excuse for children and adults who are misbehaved or are not parented well and need more discipline. Obviously these people have never had to struggle with their ADHD child, trying to help his/her learning disabilities, or held them while they cried because the other kids treat them different just because they think different, and they haven't had to watch their child struggle with themselves trying to gain the control of his/her actions. It just breaks my heart that these uneducated people judge these children and parents when they are actually ignorant on ADHD and have never even tried to learn and understand it.

To start I want to first point out that we as people are not to judge on another, who really has the right to judge others? No One.

Saving Money

So, I have been noticing for a while, as I'm sure you have too, that things are getting ridiculously over priced. In fact, some things are past that point! It has gotten so hard for so many of us to save any money but, it's getting more important to save money because we don't know how much worse it is going to get. Gas prices have sky rocketed and so has everything else. I don't know about you but, I have became a coupon clipper. I used to not really pay much attention and didn't worry about clipping coupons, I mean I always bought bargains when things were on sale but didn't worry about coupons and saving more. So anyways, I just wanted to share the things I have changed and they way I save now since the cost raise has affected our family and hopefully my strategies may help you :)

Managing ADHD Behaviors

Managing your ADHD child's behaviors can be very challenging. It can become frustrating and often leave you feeling helpless. So many parents will question themselves as a parent or question their parenting. It is difficult, but knowing some hints can help so very much! :)

Caffeine Effects on ADHD in Children

As you all know, caffeine is in pretty much everything like coffee, tea, iced tea, energy drinks, soda, even gum and so many things in between. It is even in some over the counter pain relievers such as Excedrin. Many children with ADHD are treated with stimulant medications, but many parents are also looking for an alternative to medication or something to use with it. Caffeine may actually be a viable solution for a medication alternative or to work along with your child's  medication, if used correctly

Teen and PreTeen Acne Struggle

OK, so I know some of these posts are off the ADHD topic, but this is not just for ADHD but for raising are children in general! :) And this has been an issue for my son since he is now 13 and going through the wonderful world of puberty!! I know AHHHH!

Well, lately Dill has been getting acne break outs like crazy!! The trouble for me is that all my kids have really sensitive skin, they get rashes from everything!
Anyways, we have been trying different at home cures and treatments for acne, I have been having him scrub his face twice a day and I got him some acne moisturizer, but it doesn't seen to be working much. I mean it's a little better but, it's just all these little bumps on his forehead. So, I think I am going to have to look into an actual acne treatment regimen for him.  So, I am looking into it a little more.

Structure and Consistency is Key for ADHD

Children with ADHD are forgetful, disorganized and impulsive. They don't think before they act and lose things often. It can be so stressful and overwhelming to raise a child with ADHD and it's even more frustrating to be the person living with ADHD and trying to manage and cope with it. So, how can we as parents help make this easier? Consistency and structure are a big key in managing ADHD for both children and adults.

Consistency is having a routine and sticking to it daily. This goes with so many things in you and your child's life and even ties into the structure part of this post. Getting your child used to a routine and set times will help to keep him/her from losing and forgetting things as often. Make charts and/or checklists for your morning and bedtime routines, like the ones on this article to help your child remember what they need to do at these certain times.

Behavioral Therapy For ADHD Children

Children with Attention Deficit Disorder- ADHD tend to have behavioral issues, especially those who are hyperactive and/or impulsive. It can be so frustrating because parenting a child with behavioral problems is by far different and more difficult than typical parenting. There are many parents who don't have an ADHD child that will judge and tell you that you just need to discipline him/her, but you do these things, they just don't understand what it is like. By this I mean that you will often feel hopeless, you have been trying everything you can possibly think of and it seems like nothing works, or it won't stick. It is for this and many other reasons that behavioral therapy can be extremely helpful to the ADHD child, the parents and siblings as well.
